HOW TO CREATE LEADERSHIP IN WALDORF SCHOOLS
How do we create good leadership in the Wadorf/Steiner Schools?
On behalf of the East African Association of Waldorf/Steiner Schools we invite you for a training course in leadership in Waldorf/Steiner schools. We realize there is a big need to learn more about leadership. Good pedagogical efforts need a frame to work in, need support and cooperation and this is what quality leadership can provide. Troels will run the course and we will work on general questions as well as more practical questions from the daily work.
Examples of general questions:
Why do we have a College of Teachers in the Waldorf/Steiner Schools?
What is the three folded leadership?
What is the role of the College of Teachers? Management? Parents?
How do we maintain and develop the Waldorf curriculum?
How do we handle conflicts? Examples of practical questions:
How do we really work together?
How do we prepare and run a meeting?
What is the task of the chair?
When are we in a process of information, discussion, decision making?
When do we give a mandate?
How do we handle finances in a responsible way?
How do we plan and run a parents meeting?
- The course is for leading teachers (members of College of Teachers or alike) and for leading administrative co-workers selected and sent by the schools.
- The course will take place seven times of two days. Possibly two days in every term.
- We suggest that each school sends a minimum of two to three persons with some experience from teaching or management.
The first course pioneer group will have the task to help identify needs of leadership in the schools. The needs identified will form part of the content of the course. The idea is that this first pioneer group can develop leadership skills and bring experience and knowledge back to their schools.
